This is six year old Oscar, posing with a Stingray caught by his Father, Dave on the evening of the 2nd August 2008.
Dave estimated the weight at between 16 and 18 pounds.
While Stingrays are rare, they are by no means unheard of around here. Others have been caught in the Carreg Y Defaid area. Dave caught this fish on the Llanbedrog side of the rock, on the rising tide using ragworm for bait on a two hook, size 4 flapper rig.
I guess Dave was targeting Black Bream, which he also landed, as well as a nice Schoolie Bass.
